Our season this year will offer a wide range of possibilities for you, beginning with The Premiere Series, directed by Daniel Patterson on October 3-4,9-10,16-17, and 23-24 2013 at 7:30pm in the Wright Theatre. The program consist of stage readings of new plays that gives our students a chance to experience the process of developing original work.
Next, on November 13 through 16, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. on Main Stage, we are presenting Spring Awakening music by Duncan Sheik and lyrics by Steven Sater, directed by Ronald Spangler assisted by Timothy L’Ecuyer. This award winning musical explores the dangers of a society that won’t allow its youth to honestly acknowledge their sexuality.
We conclude our Fall productions with the Choreography Showcase, on December 5,6 2013 at 7:00 pm in the Mabel Brown Room. This concert premieres original modern dance works choreographed by dance students and performed by dancers from across the campus.
Our spring productions open with none other than Pulitzer Prize winner Paula Vogel’s How I Learned to Drive, directed by PeggyRae Johnson, and runs February 25 through March 1, 2014 7:30 p.m. on Main Stage. Focussing on the adult narrator’s memories of sexual molestation, the play resist easy labels and simple stereotypes about either the molester or the vistim.
The Theatre and Dance Production Season concludes with the tradition that began 38 years ago: An Evening of Dance directed by Marcia Murdock assisted by William Seigh on April 23 through 26,2014 7:30 p.m. on Main Stage
